Bringing laughter, fun and relaxation to children and adults
Winner of The Best Practise Award September 2016
Do you love sharing stories and nursery rhymes with your children?
Story massage is just that. It is a range of 10 simple but effective massage moves that when incorporated into stories, songs or nursery rhymes can promote fun, family time and relaxation. It can be used at home or when out and about to calm a stressful situation, aide bedtime routines by promoting relaxation and wind down time or just for spending some fun creative time with our children any time of day.
Story Massage is a wonderfully creative massage and as a mother I find it can aide children in making sense of the world around them. It also helps to teach respect and kindness when used with siblings and in the case of disabled siblings can get the whole family joining in.
Story Massage is extremely versatile and can be adapted to the individual child's needs, age and ability. Personal experience has allowed me to use Story Massage with a child with ADD and Hearing Loss. I write about these experiences and the positive effect of massage within my own family to help other parents. Bedtimes and when out and about can be stressful times of the day, this is where story massage can help. Find out more at www.leannesihm.wordpress.com.
The use of massage with the storytelling can really bring the magic of your words alive and keeps the children interested and concentrating for longer. To learn more about Story Massage from the founders please see Story Massage by Mary Atkinson...... an interview with Mary Atkinson co founder of Story Massage or www.storymassage.co.uk
I am pleased to offer parents/carers group sessions or on a one to one basis in which I can teach you the 10 simple but effective massage moves and explore the wonderful stories written in "once upon a touch...story massage for children' by Mary Atkinson and Sandra Hooper. You will also have a chance to write your own magical stories and rhymes tailored to your child and practise the moves so that you can share and enjoy them with your children. Children love sharing and learning the massage moves so be prepared for a massage from little people. The sessions typically last approximately 1 hour with teas and coffee supplied for parents / carers or I am able to travel to you. Training is hands on perfect for children to get stuck in and get creative. Contact for more details
